Vietnam’s pre-export preparation situation

Currently, the country’s sweet potato growing area is approximately 100,000 hectares, and with a total output of 1.2-1.3 million tons, it can be stated that Vietnam is very rich in output for the export of this item.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Liem, Deputy Director of Vinh Long Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the locality has sent 38 documents to the Plant Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development up to this point. Please provide the packing facility number and the growing area code. There are 70 licensed growing areas and 13 sweet potato packing facilities, according to the findings.

The ten documents listed above (along with those listed below) are intended to facilitate exports to China.

To facilitate exports to China, the Protocol requires the General Department of Customs of China to approve the ten documents listed above (and those that will be issued in the future—PV). This unit and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development signed an agreement.

Sweet potato product quarantine requirements

The Plant Protection Department’s director is the point of contact for guiding procedures, plant quarantine, and negotiating the opening of the agricultural product market. Right after the protocol was signed, the department implemented a slew of positive and synchronous solutions.

Mr. Hoang Trung stated that in the most recent GACC inspection, 10/23 of our packaging facilities failed. This issue should be resolved as soon as possible so that the owners and units involved can clearly identify the cause and find solutions to complete the technical file. If the goods do not meet the standards, they will be returned as soon as possible. In addition, violators’ exports may be suspended.

The Plant Protection Department also assists and guides local specialized agencies in methodically and sustainably propagating, disseminating, and organizing production.

Vietnam officially exports sweet potatoes to China.

The Chinese team of experts conducted an online inspection of sweet potato enterprises for approval and export to China from March 7-10, 2023, with the active coordination and support of the Plant Protection Departments and the embassies of the two countries. In the near future, the Chinese side intends to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in order to promote the development of bilateral trade in sweet potatoes, in particular, and agricultural products in general.

The Plant Protection Department also meticulously planned the date of the first container of sweet potato export to China. The Department has planned and committed to organizing training courses on specific planting area codes, as well as some related technical requirements, in the near future. The owners of the codes and local specialists were the subjects of the training, with everyone checking and supervising that the quarantine requirements were properly and completely met before bringing the goods to the border gate.

Encourage proposals to export sweet potatoes as soon as possible.

For enterprises, the state, businesses, and industry associations must work together to support growing regions, cooperatives, and people in the chain while also ensuring that records and registration are in accordance with GACC regulations. To create long-term demand and help farmers feel secure in farming, businesses must build and form sustainable links both domestically and internationally.

The Plant Protection Department also planned to be meticulous in its preparations for the day when the first container of sweet potatoes was shipped to China. Plan and commit to organizing training courses on specific planting area codes, as well as some related technical requirements, in the near future. The owners of codes and local experts who will all check, supervise, and work together to properly and fully comply with the quarantine requirements before bringing the goods to the border gate are the subjects of the training.
