Amazon opened two additional fulfillment sites in Mexico in 2020

In the year 2020, Amazon established two fulfillment centers outside of Mexico City, in the cities of Guadalajara and Monterrey.

The new facilities represent a $100 million investment by Amazon in Mexico, according to company officials, as the company tries to provide speedier deliveries to more consumers across the country.
According to Reuters, Amazon said in a statement that “the creation of a solid infrastructure network allows the company to stay closer than ever to clients, and as a result, it is possible to offer speedy delivery.”
According to Amazon, the two new facilities total 742,710 square feet and will employ 1,500 people directly and indirectly.
Monterrey lies in northern Mexico, around 140 miles from the border with the United States. Guadalajara is a city in Mexico’s central region. After Mexico City, both cities have the country’s largest metropolitan areas.
The two new fulfillment centers were opened shortly before Oct. 13, just in time for Prime Day, an annual global online shopping event
In 2015, Amazon, based in Seattle, officially started its e-commerce platform in Mexico. In Mexico, the firm already operates five fulfillment centers, two support buildings, and two sorting centers.
Amazon confronts stiff competition in Mexico, where Walmart and MercadoLibre, located in Argentina, both have significant e-commerce operations.
